Dalton Sherman's Inspirational Speech

My curriculum director shared this with us at our monthly meeting today. I can't believe I had not seen it before now. If you have not already seen this, it is well worth eight minutes of your time. This kid is really going places and what he says really hit home with me. I can't wait to share this at the next faculty meeting.

  2. Isn't this a great video! This kid is going places. I keep meaning to show this to students and help them realize that kids can make a big impact at any age. I am just amazed at his poise, that is a tough speaking gig at any age!

  4. I agree that this video and Dalton are amazing. However, when I see someone post it and sing it's praises, I am compelled to comment.

"School district officials contacted the family last May about giving the convocation speech for teachers. Dallas ISD officials wrote it."

Dalton "performed" the speech very well. The speech is not his own and I don't want people to think it is. Please, don't think that I am trying to minimize the product.

I'm just doing what I'd want my students to do: think critically about something and know all the facts.

  5. Thanks for sharing this fact with us. I suspected that Dalton had help from either school officials or parents. I would have been even more astounded if a fifth grader had written this speech on his own, but I probably should've mentioned that in my post.
    Thanks again for the correction.
